RightsRespectingSchool

We are working towards becoming a Rights Respecting School.

O

On November 24th 2016 we were assessed by two visiting teachers to see how far along the Rights Respecting Schools Journey we are.

We are delighted to say that we have now achieved Level 1.  This is in recognition of all the learning we have done in the last 18 months about Rights, through Rights and by protecting the Rights of others.

Please feel free to read the report of the visit

Our Rights Respecting Schools Steering Group consulted pupils at assembly to decide where their charity collections should go this year.  They selected…

October (International) – The Rotary Club Shoe Box AppealAll children have the right to play and relax.

Over 125 boxes were collected to take to Countries in Eastern Europe.

When they were collected, the Rotary Club advised us that the boxes had already been paid for so our collection went to the Rotary Appeal back by the Bill and Linda Gates Foundation fighting against Polio.  All children have the right to good health care.

We raised £261 pounds through our collection which will be added to £200 from Central Buchan’s Rotary Club.  The Gates Foundation matches the donation £2 for £1 so the combined contribution from us and the Rotary will now be £1,383.  Well done Everyone!

December (Local) – The children wanted to support charities which help children with Cancer. We intend to Collect for Maggies in Aberdeen with our “Dress as you Please” money on the 20th of December.  Theme – Christmas!

March (National) – The children think that Comic Relief will be a good national charity to support.  Information to Follow!  Our “Dress as you Please” day will be the last day of term even though Comic Relief is 24th of March.
